Leak detection course 2012
The second edition of this course will take place on the 23rd of May 2012 at the Paul Scherrer Institute, 5232 Villigen, Switzerland
Participants/Objectives
This course is targeted to participants with a practical background. After a brief introduction about the theory of leak detection, the day will focalise on hands-on leak detection on several test benches. This course is adequate for technicians, laboratory assistants, laboratory mechanics and similar who need an in-depth training in vacuum techniques. The number of participants will be limited to about 20 to optimise the hands-on part.
This course will be given in German.

Leak detection course 2011
16. November 2011, Paul Scherrer Institut, 5232 Villigen, Switzerland
Report from the event
The course on vacuum leak detection held at the Paul Scherrer Institute was followed by 17 participants from industry and 5 from research institutes, all from Switzerland. The first part was devoted to the theoretical background of leak detection with two talks given by Marco Gianini (Pfeiffer Vacuum). Following this, hands-on exercises were done by the participants on four test stations to demonstrate and practice different methods, including helium leak detection. The exercises included examples throughout the vacuum range, down to UHV. Leak detections on a large volume, on a volume with long diffusion times, as well as identifying a difficult to localise water leak were practised.
The number of participants was deliberately limited to allow all students to have enough opportunities to practice. The course will most likely be repeated in 2012. The date and venue will be published on the webpages of swissvacuum in due time.
